Guernsey took the spoils with a dominant first half performance. They came out firing on all cylinders and scored a simple converted try within 2 minutes. A high up and under was lost in the winter sun and Antony Armstrong recovered the ball and scored under the posts. This was followed quickly by a well worked try from Jack Colbourne and Raiders were 14-0 up after 8 minutes.
Havant then woke up and started to put phases together but it was Guernsey who scored next on 15 minutes through a converted lineout catch and drive from Thomas Ceillam.
The next 10 minutes were an even contest and a mazy break by Ben Holt put Havant 5 metres from the Guernsey line. Havant went wide and a deliberate knock on saw Callum Roberts sent to sin bin and Alex Hankins scored a converted try from a catch and drive from the line out.
The game was beginning to break up and Guernsey went wide for Armstrong to score the bonus point unconverted try. HT 26-7
The second half began very stop start, Havant were stealing a number of lineouts, but Guernsey were being awarded a number of penalties at scrums. Armstrong cut a good line on 53 mins and scored his hat trick try.
As space started to appear on the pitch Havant looked more of an attacking threat and a good run by Carr ended up with him being bundled into touch and Sean Shepherd scored a well taken converted try for Havant from an overthrow at the lineout. The scrappy nature of the game continued and there was no score for 20 minutes as both sides made a raft of substitutions.
Guernsey had the last word and Ethan Smith scored with 5 to go.
